Smart Kitchen Remodeling Solutions for You

Counter, base cabinets and backsplash

The standard counter height is 900 mm (36 in.) From the floor to the top of the counter. The work surface will be more comfortable for working. The depth of the boxes is 640 mm (25 in). You can leave 6 ” (152mm)  clearance above the cabinet to install a trim molding. The space between the countertop and the underside of the light cover molding is a minimum of 457 mm (18 in).

  • The hood location should be 762mm (30in) from the hotplate. You also have to plan where the duct will exit to the outside, as this can have an aesthetic impact on your exterior wall.
  • Remember to leave a space to hide the electrical wires.

Kitchen triangle

To make the time spent in your kitchen pleasant, the core of your kitchen, consisting of the sink, stove and fridge, must form a triangle. This design will help simplify your trips for cooking and cleaning. Leave approximately 1067 mm (42 in) for traffic.

Appliances

Leave at least 20 in. (508 mm) of clearance when the dishwasher is open to allow free circulation. Provide a 508 mm x 457 mm (20pox18 in) cabinet for the microwave space.

Provide space for a fridge and stove measuring between 762 mm and 915 mm (30-36 in) towards the end of a counter in order to have a large workspace. However, remember to keep the work triangle. Electrical outlets must be located at a height of 1067 mm (42 in) from the floor.

It is strongly recommended that you check the appliance manufacturer’s minimum clearances for proper installation. Remember that plumbing and electrical work will have to be done by licensed contractors.
